According to football agent Antonio Araujo, Newcastle are interested in signing Benfica winger Rafa Silva this summer.
The 25-year-old has scored 19 times for Benfica this season and has 15 caps for Portugal, being a right-footed player who is capable of playing on either flank.
Here’s what Silva’s had to say about a potential move away for the Portuguese international this summer, appearing to confirm that we are one of the clubs keen to sign him:
“They (Newcastle) are one of those interested.
“Whatever happens, will happen.”
Silva joined Benfica from Braga in 2016 and has bagged 24 goals and 14 assists since making the €16m move.
It’s reported that a €60m release clause exists in his contract – so it’s safe to say we won’t be activating that – with him valued at £22m by TransferMarkt.
With Kenedy heading back to Chelsea, Murphy doing little to convince us he’s good enough and Ritchie recently converting into a left wing-back, another wide man could be needed this summer, but it seems Silva won’t come cheap.
