Agent claims Newcastle are interested in signing 19 goal winger this summer
According to football agent Antonio Araujo, Newcastle are interested in signing Benfica winger Rafa Silva this summer.
The 25-year-old has scored 19 times for Benfica this season and has 15 caps for Portugal, being a right-footed player who is capable of playing on either flank.
Here's what Silva's had to say about a potential move away for the Portuguese international this summer, appearing to confirm that we are one of the clubs keen to sign him:
“They (Newcastle) are one of those interested.
"Whatever happens, will happen.”
Silva joined Benfica from Braga in 2016 and has bagged 24 goals and 14 assists since making the €16m move.
It's reported that a €60m release clause exists in his contract - so it's safe to say we won't be activating that - with him valued at £22m by TransferMarkt.
With Kenedy heading back to Chelsea, Murphy doing little to convince us he's good enough and Ritchie recently converting into a left wing-back, another wide man could be needed this summer, but it seems Silva won't come cheap.
