NUFC to be offered the chance to sign German international this summer?

According to ‘Paris United’, the agent of Kevin Trapp, Pini Zahavi, has created an ‘opening’ for the German stopper to sign at St James’ Park this summer.

While Trapp is a goalkeeper we’ve been linked with on more than one occasion since Rafa took over, but I’m struggling with this one.

The report states that the 28-year-old will be offered to Benitez and could be brought in to compete with Martin Dubravka for the number one spot at Newcastle, but it would not be like us (Ashley) to sign a potential squad player who’d be on big wages.

Not only that, a fairly high-profile player like Trapp doesn’t seem likely to join us if he’s not guaranteed game time every week.

Two (or even three) of Elliot, Darlow and Woodman could leave this summer, meaning a new goalkeeper will be needed, but I’m not so sure about this one.

The PSG stopper has been on loan with Europa League semi-finalists Frankfurt this season and looks like he’ll secure a permanent move away from France this summer.
