Ayoze Perez suffers ‘big blow’ – & may now be one step closer to leaving NUFC this summer

Ayoze Perez has been left out of the Spain’s squad for their upcoming matches – a decision that has casted more doubts over his future at St James’ Park.

Both he, Sergio Aguero, Sadio Mane and Jamie Vardy are the only players to score 10 or more Premier League goals in 2019, however his stunning form on Tyneside hasn’t been enough to earn him a call-up.

As the Chronicle’s Chris Waugh highlights below, this will be a ‘big blow’ for him – with him having hinted in the past that his ability to be named in the Spanish set-up could make or break his future at St James’ Park:

It’s been reported this week that he’ll make decision on Newcastle United future once he returns from a holiday back in his homeland, however this snub may have helped make his mind up unfortunately.

As you can see by Luis Enrique’s latest squad below, there’s a place for 34-year-old former Arsenal star Santi Cazorla, but no room for an in-form Ayoze Perez.

Considering Morata has 6 goals in 18 apparances for Atletico Madrid and Rodrigo has 13 goals in 49 appearances for Valencia, Ayoze has every right to feel hard done by – even if he’s only hit top form since the turn of the year.

  1. “Both he, Sergio Aguero, Sadio Mane and Jamie Vardy are the only players to score 10 or more Premier League goals in 2019”

Both? Both he and 3 other players?

4 people – so not the traditionally recognised use of the word “both”, which would be 2.
