NUFC set Dwight Gayle asking price after Leeds ‘interest’ & West Brom snub – Report

Newcastle United will slap a £15m asking price on Dwight Gayle’s head this summer, according to TEAMtalk.

This comes after West Brom confirmed that they would NOT be able to fund a move for the striker this summer after failing to gain immediate promotion back to the Premier League.

Leeds United – who also lost a play-off semi final last week – have also been linked, but it seems they too could be priced out of a move.

TEAMtalk claim that Marco Bielsa’s is on the lookout for a proven second tier striker this summer, but it seems they’ll be unable to afford the £15m fee or match his £55,000 per week wage demands.

Despite TEAMtalk’s above caption, there’ll no doubt be several promotion hopefuls willing to pay decent money for the 28-year-old, however.

With 24 goals and 8 assists for West Brom this season and 23 goals in 32 Championship games for us during our promotion campaign, he’s one of the most prolific second tier strikers out there.

A straight swap for Salomon Rondon would make so much sense, doing both ourselves and West Brom a big favour, but it remains to be seen if Gayle would settle for another season in the Championship, with recent reports suggesting he’s determined to prove himself in the Premier League.

With that in mind, we might find it harder to sell him this summer, with the vast majority of suitors likely to be in the second division.
