According to L’Equipe, 19-year-old Monaco winger Mehdi Zerkane has entered discussions with Newcastle United over a potential move to St James’ Park this summer.
Zerkane is set to be out of contract with the Ligue 1 club on next month, meaning he will now be free to speak to other clubs and secure pre-contract agreement before he is released by Monaco.
Looking at his age and game-time so far in France, it looks like he’d be on for the future and someone who’d slot into our U-23 set up.
The right winger featured for Monaco in the UEFA youth league, bagging 2 goals and 1 assist in 10 appearances for their U-19 side.
L’Equipe claim that we aren’t the only ones interest, however, with several other French sides set to be keen to snap up the 19-year-old on a free this summer.
