Bin Zayed Group release NEW takeover statement – Documents ‘signed’ & sent to Premier League

Midhat Kidwai – the managing director of Bin Zayed Group – has claimed in a new statement that takeover documents have been signed by both themselves and Mike Ashley and have now been sent to the Premier League after takeover terms were ‘agreed’.

Kidawi also claims that a ‘proof of funds statement’ was sent to the club on April 19th this year.

These are more HUGE claims from the Bin Zayed Group, with a likely response from both the Premier League and Newcastle United likely to tell us whether this deal really is on or not.

Here’s what Midhat Kidawi has said in his latest statement, as shared in the last few moments by Lee Ryder:

“Terms have been agreed between us and Mike Ashley; these terms have been reflected in a document, signed by both parties, which has been forwarded to the Premier League.”

“The proof of funds statement was forwarded to Mike Ashley’s lawyers on April 17 2019.

“The so called fit-and-proper Premier League process is a standard procedure which will take time, and we are doing all we can to assist the Premier League during this process.”

“We feel the need to clarify this point in order for the fans and the general public to understand the timelines.”

So, after an initial statement on Monday confirmed their interest and claimed they’d ‘agreed terms’, they now state that they’ve provided proof of funds, BOTH parties have signed documents and then sent them off to the Premier League – suggesting the necessary ‘fit-and-proper persons test’ will follow before a takeover can be completed.

There has been real scepticism around this deal involving Sheikh Khaled and the Bin Zayed Group over the last 48 hours or so, however this latest statement makes THREE huge claims.

It’s now time for Newcastle United to speak out and let us know what is really going on here.

They responded to the BZG’s initial statement in saying it was ‘genuine’, however it’s only right for everyone’s sake that this is fully addressed – especially when talk of ‘signing documents’ and ‘notifying the Premier League’ is now being thrown about.

  1. I love the way he refers to it as the “so-called” fit and proper process.

Never has so much contempt been packed into such a small phrase.
