Laughable stuff as The Sun claim NUFC could line up like this next season if takeover happens..

The Sun really haven’t covered themselves in glory over the past few years, and their latest piece on NUFC is pretty farcical.

Not only did they break that a takeover was ‘done’ on Sunday night when there were clearly a few more obstacles to overcome, the team they’re suggesting we may have next season if Sheik Khaled buys the club is laughable at best.

According to them, this is ‘how Newcastle could line-up next season if the takeover is completed’:

Where to start with this.

To begin with, I’m not sure Benitez (or any other manager that may be in charge should Sheikh Khaled arrive) would be replacing Dubravka – even if Rafa has been linked with PSG’s Aerola on several occasions.

Then to the midfield. Apparently we’d have a midfield three of Almiron, Burnley’s Dwight McNeil (another winger) and Juan Mata.

And finally, they reckon 35-year-old former Rafa Benitez favourite Fernando Torres and free-agent Danny Welbeck will be up top, with Ayoze Perez just in behind.

Not only that, they seem to have forgotten that CSKA’s Mario Fernandez is a right-back and that Dutch full-back Jetro Willems plays down the left – although that seems minor given how farcical other areas of their NUFC XI are.

Several players in their team have been linked with moves to Newcastle, and some would be very good signings, but it’s like they let a 12-year-old make this side up after 5 minutes on FIFA.

You couldn’t make this stuff up. Oh wait, the Sun just did..

  1. Never read the rubbish that ‘The Sun’ prints since 1998 when they printed lies about what my military unit were doing. Howay the Lads.
