Joselu has admitted he could well leave the club this summer – but has made an interest comment about a potential ‘new board’ in the process.
Speaking to MARCA, the Spaniard states that he has just one-year left on his current deal and talks about the ‘possibilities’ of a move elsewhere – yet claims his future ‘will depend on the new board’ coming to the club.
Here’s what he’s had to say during his latest interview:
“I have one year of contract left at Newcastle.
“I have one year left at Newcastle, I have possibilities to move but it will depend on the new board that will come to the club”
“The market in the Premier League ends on August 8, so I am attentive to the movements that may occur with me.”
Some people have questioned whether his Spanish has been lost in translation, but his comments about ‘the new board’ seem intriguing to say the least given all the takeover talk surrounding St James’ Park at present.
In all honesty, I don’t think Joselu should have a future at the club – whether Rafa stays or goes and whether a takeover happens or not.
He’s not a Premier League player and, after his total lack of game time in 2019, he may have accepted that a move away would suit all parties this summer.
I don’t think he knows anymore than the rest of us, just what he’s read and maybe speaking to his agent. The story’s out there.
