3 signings NUFC should complete this summer – With or without a takeover..

My head is spinning with all of this takeover talk. Its on no it’s off. Fee agreed, no offer received!

Most of it is hot air fabricated by journalists claiming to be “in the know”, but one thing I do know for certain is that in around 10 weeks time, the Newcastle manager (whoever that ends up being!) will have to pick a team of 11 players to kick off a Premier league campaign.

Right now our squad is paper thin and lacking in quality, so here are 3 signings I think the Toon should make – whether a takeover happens or not.

Stanley N’soki

We need a left back who is solid in defence and comfortable going forward. We have been credited with an interest in PSG talent N’soki before and have even had a £10mil offer turned down according to Sky.

That said, N’soki has by now realised he is 3rd choice left back at PSG and for the good of his career he needs to leave. Att 20 he would prove to be a great long term signing who can cover at CB and pave the way for Clarke to leave the club.

Juan Mata

Mata needs a club, we need a creative spark in midfield and he’s available on a free this summer.

£140k per week wages would make Ashley baulk and he’d need to reduce his demands to sign, but Mata is a next level player who would help us kick on and his signing would be a signal of intent from the Toon.

If Rafa is manager (meaning Ashley agrees to compromise!) I see this one happening.

Joelinton

Lee Charney himself said that the club would seek out a small number of high quality signings and Joelinton fits the bill. He’s 22 and a bit of a rough diamond but he is playing with confidence and scoring and creating goals (something Rafa wants from a number 9).

The £40mil price tag would make Ashley cry, so this one would be more likely to happen with a takeover – but if Ashley won’t sign Rondon and wants someone younger with big potential, this is how much it costs. Under Rafa’s tutelage Joelinton could become a star and double is value with 3 good seasons under his belt.

Obviously we would also like a defensive midfielder, and attacking right back and another striker but I feel that those 3 signings would make us a stronger side than we were last season so as a minimum let’s get these 3 lads in black and white next season!

Howay the lads!
