NUFC ‘interested’ in Croatian international – £12m asking price – Report

According to Football Insider, Nikola Vlasic is eyeing a permanent move away from Everton this summer – and Newcastle are said to be interested.

The Croatian attacking midfielder doesn’t seem to be in Marco Silva’s plans, despite bagging 8 goals and 7 assists in 31 appearances on loan at CSKA Moscow last season, and it’s claimed he’s now free to leave for £12m.

As ever, transfer talk can be taken with a pinch of salt until takeover talk and Rafa’s future is concluded, it has been insisted by NUFC reporters that work is still being done behind the scenes incase Benitez does sign a new deal.

He’s only 21, so would fit into Mike Ashley’s buying policy, but the fact he’s struggled to make an impact at Premier league level (2 goals and 1 assist in 19 games for Everton) may raise doubts over a potential move.

That said, he’s shone during a recent loan spell at CKSA – especially in the Champions League, scoring 3 goals (one being the winner against Real Madrid) and bagging 2 assists in their 6 group games.

He’s been capped 5 times by Croatia and was actually tentatively linked with a move to Tyneside last summer by the Daily Mail.

He can play out wide or in a more central attacking midfield role and has decent pace, but I’d file this one under the ‘dubious’ section – especially when we don’t know who’ll be in charge of the team come August.
