“Source close” to Championship star claims NUFC want to sign him this summer

According to an ‘exclusive’ from Football League World, a “source close” to Che Adams has informed them that Newcastle are seriously interested in the in-form Birmingham City striker.

The piece claims that we are believed to be ‘very strong admirers’ of the 22-year-old – claiming we’ve been watching him closely in 2019 and want to sign him this summer.

Adams has enjoyed a superb season in the Championship, bagging 22 goals and 5 assists in 46 appearances – although the report claims we’ve been tracking the forward for several years.

Here’s what George Harbey’s had to say in his transfer ‘exclusive’ for Football League World:

Newcastle United remain interested in signing Birmingham City forward Che Adams this summer, a source close to the player has exclusively confirmed to Football League World.

The Magpies have been keen admirers of the 22-year-old for a number of years, and made regular checks on the striker when he played for non-league side Ilkeston Town a few years ago.

The forward has gone from strength to strength ever since, and is now one of the most in-demand players in the country after enduring a hugely impressive campaign with Birmingham City.

Adams netted 22 times in 48 appearances for Garry Monk’s side in the 2018/19 campaign, and was also nominated for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Season award as a result of his remarkable season in front of goal.

Plenty of clubs have been linked with his signature over the last few months, with Tottenham, Everton and Newcastle all reportedly present to watch him in action back in February.

Now, a source close to the player has exclusively confirmed to Football League World that the latter are very strong admirers of the prolific forward, having watched him in action in the final few league games of the season.

His stats this season have been superb in a pretty ordinary Birmingham side, but it would surely all come down to their asking price…IF our interest proves to be true that is!

We have a prolific Championship striker in Dwight Gayle, and although it’s worth noting that Adams is 6 years younger, he would arrive as a totally unknown quantity as far as his ability to cut it in the Premier League is concerned.

That said, the likes of Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson have made the step up and become Premier League stars – and he does look similar to him in terms of both pace and power – so maybe he’s one both our scouts feel is worth the risk.

Here’s every one of the 22 goals he scored for the Blues last season:

  1. Ben Arfa was great at the time, he needs a strong but caring manager who can like SBR get the best out of him. RB is not that sort of manager if your face doesn’t fit you wont get a game. Look at some of his signings/ loans who hardly if ever got a game. So forget this one a pity.

  2. Anyone with half a brain would admire Che.

No actual quotes from anybody so there must not be enough takeover talk to rehash and regurgitate.
