Salomon Rondon’s agent now ‘in talks’ with new club – Offer imminent – Report

According to reports in Turkey, Salomon Rondon’s agent has held talks with Fenerbahce, with the club now set to put an ‘offer on the table’ for the Venezuelan.

We’re now several weeks on from the end of the season, yet a potential takeover and Rafa Benitez’s future is still up in the air – never mind a £16.5m deal for our player of the season.

Since his last appearance for the club in a 4-0 win at Fulham, the 29-year-old has been heavily linked with Wolves, while the likes of West Ham and Everton have also been credited with interest.

Now, Ajansspor.com claim that Rondon’s agent, Juan Rodriguez, is holding talks with Fenerbahce’s Sporting Director Damien Comolli – and it sounds like they’re preparing to make him an offer.

Fortunately, he’s currently away on international duty with Venezuela, with him set to play in their first game of the 2019 Copa America next weekend, something that will at least buy us some time if Benitez does stay and make a move for Rondon as a result.

That said, the fact Wolves have shown a willingness to pay his £16.5m release clause, coupled with claims that Fenerbahce have held talks, shows that clubs are stealing a march on us and may be ready to get a deal done once he returns from South America.

Keeping a striker who bagged 12 goals and 7 assists for us last season should be a priority, but in a world where we’re showing no real urgency to keep Benitez, it would not surprise me if he ended up going elsewhere this summer.
