Transfer now imminent for NUFC flop as new reports claim deal is ‘almost done’

Joselu’s move back to La Liga is almost done according to several reports in Spain, who claim it’s a ‘matter of time’ until he joins Alaves.

Mundo Deportivo say the move is imminent, while Spanish outlet AS also confirm that a deal is ‘almost completed’, however no details are mentioned regarding the transfer fee involved.

The striker made a £5m move from Stoke two years ago, however he managed just 4 goals in his first season at St James’ Park and has found regular game time hard to come back this year as a result.

As a result, it really does feel like a move away is for the best – and it looks like he’s got that in Alaves; a club who’ve also just confirmed the £2m signing of former Rafa Benitez target Lucas Perez.

Despite his best efforts and hard work, he’s just not up to it at this level and a move back to his homeland with La Liga side Alaves is no doubt one that appeals.

It’s been suggested that no incoming our outgoing deals will be done until Rafa future is sorted, but it would be wrong to deny what appears to be a perfect move for him at this stage of his career – especially when he seems highly unlikely to be in the plans of either Benitez or any manager that may replace him this summer.

Should this one go through, we wish him all the best.

He’s been on the receiving end of plenty stick and has only managed 7 goals in two seasons on Tyneside, but he seems a very decent bloke who’s given his all.

After all, there’s only so much we could’ve expected when signing Stoke’s fifth choice striker for a few million quid in this day and age.

  1. You wonder if someone like Shearer could have taught him something about finishing. He seemed to have a lot of qualities but being a striker wasn’t one of them. He must train amazingly well but just can’t produce the goods on match day.
