Rondon ‘tells friends’ who he wants to join after West Ham, Wolves & Marseille links – Report

Salomon Rondon has ‘told friends’ he wants to complete a permanent move to Newcastle United this summer according to the Mirror.

This is positive to hear after the Venezuelan has been linked with the likes of Wolves, West Ham, Marseille and Fenerbahce over the past month, however it will only mean so much if Mike Ashley remains and refuses to sanction a move.

The Chronicle insist that any move for Rondon will be reliant on Rafa signing a new deal at the club, but it seems we’ll also need a takeover OR a change of approach from Mike Ashley if we’re to actually activate the 29-year-old’s £16.5m release clause at West Brom.

Here’s what the Mirror have had to say about Rondon’s future, claiming that the striker wants to return to Newcastle, despite interest from West Ham:

A move by West Ham for West Brom’s Salomon Rondon, who caught the eye on loan at Newcastle last season, is also being considered.

But the Venezuelan has told friends he wants to join the Magpies on a permanent basis.

It’s an infuriating position to be in really. Only we could be unsure if we’re actually going to sign our ‘player of the season’ when he’s available for just £16.5m AND is keen to sign permanently despite interest from elsewhere.

An absolutely huge few weeks now await us.

It could be that a takeover happens, Benitez stays and Rondon signs as a result, but a conclusion where Ashley remains, Rafa quits and Rondon moves elsewhere is still a possibility as things stand.
