Must-watch Almiron footage emerges – Bags world class assist & outshines Messi vs Argentina

Events off the pitch may have us fearing the worst this summer, but there’s definitely one thing we should all be excited about ahead of the 2019/20 season – and that’s Miguel Almiron!

The 25-year-old was named Man of the Match in Paraguay’s 1-1 draw against Argentina in the Copa America last night, with him not only bagging a stunning assist (watch it below), but also outshining none other than Lionel Messi.

Here’s his electric piece of play to give Paraguay a 1-0 lead in the first half, seeing him pick up the ball in his own half, fly past two Argentine players and deliver a perfect cut-back after carrying the ball 70-yards:

This was Almiron’s second assist in 2 games, with him setting up a goal after impressing in their 2-2 draw with Qatar a few days ago.

He wasn’t done there though. Not only did he make a 60-yard sprint back to dispossess Messi, he then made several bursting runs forward, with his pace and direct running being too much to handle for the Argentine defence:

What a player we have on our hands!

The result means Paraguay have now drawn both of their opening two games in the Copa America, meaning they must beat Colombia in their final group game to have any chance of qualifying for the knockout stages.
