According to reports in Greece, Panathinaikos have been in contact with Newcastle United in a bid to sign Rolando Aarons on loan.
This comes from SNDA.Gr, who’ve also claimed that the Greek giants have been in talks with Cal Roberts – the 22-year-old winger all set to be available on a free once his contract expires on June 30th..
As for Aarons, the player himself may be hoping he receives offers from Championship sides this summer after a quietly impressive loan stint with Sheffield Wednesday, however his recent spells in Italy and the Czech Republic suggest he’s not afraid to try his luck abroad.
SNDA claim that Newcastle are ‘prepared to cover most of Aaron’s wages’ if he were to head to Greece, although I suspect the club may be looking to offload him permanently this time around – especially if Rafa Benitez does stay.
Should he leave, any new manager may want to take a look at Aarons before allowing him to leave, however it looks like any outgoings will be put on hold until we know what is happening with Rafa Benitez.
This may be the reason why Joselu is yet to complete a permanent move to Alaves.
