Mike Ashley has shown where his priorities lie once again, with the NUFC owner agreeing a £52m takeover of GAME today.
He’s shown his true colours here, with him opting to ignore the uncertainty surrounding ‘his’ football club and instead splash cash on struggling high-street stores.
His complete and utter neglect of Newcastle United football club is beyond belief – even by his low standards.
We have a manager who’s contract expires in no days time, no new signings, no number nine and no contract renewals – yet the season starts in just 50 days time.
Ashley bought a 26% stake in GAME back in 2017. That’s since increased to 40% and it looks like his latest move is a bid to get gamers into House of Fraser – with it suggested that he could take away GAME shops and move them into his HoF stores.
The sooner he sells up the better – although you can’t help but fear he’ll stay, let others milk his cash cow at NUFC while he plots his next move for the latest struggling high-street chain.
Lets hope the Highstreet is where Ashley’s priorities lie. I think he has a plan to consolidate lots of small specialist retailers in to his House of Fraser stores. Coincidentally 2017 is when Justin Barnes arrived at NUFC when the Chronicle reported it was to get the club in to shape for sale. Maybe Ashley’s 5 year plan was for MASH and the sale of NUFC part of it

Toon fans renewing season tickets is not supporting the team like many of you keep telling yourself and if you do please don’t moan on about the club as you are part of the problem.
