Ex-NUFC winger set to join Nottingham Forest in the next 48 hours – The Telegraph

According to the Telegraph, former Newcastle United winger Sammy Ameobi is all set to join Nottingham Forest in the ‘next few days’.

The 6ft 4′ forward bagged 4 goals and 4 assists in 31 games for Bolton Wanderers last season, with him unable to stop the club from slipping down into League One.

He’s since been released by the club and, according to the Telegraph’s John Percy, it looks like he’ll join Nottingham Forest on a free over the next 48 hours.

Here’s what Forest fans have had to say in response to the news – and it’s fair to say most of them are far from happy with this one:

“Sammy Ameobi? Seriously?”

“Sammy Ameobi and Alan Hutton. No need for further comment to be honest. The quality of these signings speak for themselves.”

“This some sort of joke?”

“I think Sammy Ameobi is an alright signing. Pace. A winger. Been a consistent performer in a beyond woeful Bolton team. He’s free. And it’s no risk.”

“Not even bang average.”

Think I’m in the minority here, but he always quite impressed me whenever I’ve seen him play at the City Ground

“Announce League 1”

“Awful signing”

It felt like yesterday that Sammy was one of our youth prospects, however he’s now 27 and has struggled to make any major impact in the Championship over the past few years – so you can see why Forest fans see this as a a slightly bizarre and underwhelming buy.
