Redfearn rates NUFC outcast “very highly” – & he’ll feature ‘heavily’ if he stays – Reporter

According to football reporter Alan Biggs, Neil Redfearn has been left very impressed by Achraf Lazaar during the first few days of pre-season training.

Biggs also claims that Lazaar could ‘feature heavily’ for Newcastle if Redfearn stays on at the club, stating the left-back is ‘very highly rated’ by the former Leeds and Rotherham man. Heaven forbid..

Just when you think this summer couldn’t get much more dire..

Lazaar may not have been given a proper chance to prove himself during Rafa’s stint at St James’ Park, but we could have serious problems heading into the new season if A) Redfearn is still at the club as an interim manager and B) Achraf Lazaar is suddenly a first-team regular.

A part of me also wonders how on earth Biggs would know this – after all Redfearn has only taken a handful of training sessions after the players returned on July 4th – however Lazaar will be desperate to prove himself after being given a ‘clean slate’ following Rafa’s exit.

What next? Colback is replacing Longstaff and Aarons and Joselu are ‘like new signings’ after Perez and Rondon’s exits?!

  1. Ashley’s asset stripping and putting genuflecting clowns in as “manager” will see us have a team even worse than the seasons we went down. Possibly even worse final total than the much laughed at Sunderland total of 10-12 years ago or so – even Derby’s record low

  2. I suspected people might jump all over this, and shame on this article for reporting negatively on it.

Why is it a bad thing???. Coz Rafa didn’t rate??. Let’s not forget, Rafa didn’t rate Mbabu and sold him. Thauvin went without getting a chance, and the likes of Hayden and Longstaff only got into the side because of injuries.

Why shouldn’t we be looking at all players in the squad and give them a chance.

The Saints manager done it and Ward-Prowse and Redmond both came back into the side and had a huge difference.

If they’re still out the door after review, so be it, but it’s only fair to give them a chance.

He really set the Championship alight last year with his four (4) appearances. So at least two Managers better than Redfearn don’t rate him.

And if the next manager doesn’t rate him then he can go. I just don’t see it as a negative looking at the whole squad.
Maybe the lad was disheartened not getting a chance under Rafa. His loan spell means nowt for me. If he’s come back this season and is putting the graft in, then good on him – surely as fans that’s what we want to hear – regardless of all the other goings ons.
