Redfearn rates NUFC outcast “very highly" – & he’ll feature ‘heavily’ if he stays - Reporter
According to football reporter Alan Biggs, Neil Redfearn has been left very impressed by Achraf Lazaar during the first few days of pre-season training.
Biggs also claims that Lazaar could 'feature heavily' for Newcastle if Redfearn stays on at the club, stating the left-back is 'very highly rated' by the former Leeds and Rotherham man. Heaven forbid..
Just when you think this summer couldn't get much more dire..
Lazaar may not have been given a proper chance to prove himself during Rafa's stint at St James' Park, but we could have serious problems heading into the new season if A) Redfearn is still at the club as an interim manager and B) Achraf Lazaar is suddenly a first-team regular.
A part of me also wonders how on earth Biggs would know this - after all Redfearn has only taken a handful of training sessions after the players returned on July 4th - however Lazaar will be desperate to prove himself after being given a 'clean slate' following Rafa's exit.
What next? Colback is replacing Longstaff and Aarons and Joselu are 'like new signings' after Perez and Rondon's exits?!
