UAE presenter sends new message to NUFC fans after ‘meeting’ BZG & sharing takeover statement

After sharing the Bin Zayed Group’s latest ‘statement’, Dubai-based radio host Peter Redding has insisted that the quotes are ‘official’ and from the party’s CEO – Midhat Kidwai.

Many have questioned just why this ‘statement’ was released via social media, something that questions its validity, however Redding insists that this was the BZG’s preference, with them aiming to communicate directly with fans above all else.

Here’s what he’s had to say on Twitter after releasing the BZG’s latest takeover ‘update’ earlier today:

“Both parties have worked diligently in finalising a deal, none more so than ourselves. We have completed every aspect required in a takeover process.

“Press claims of no bids or Premier League approval processes are simply untrue.

“The current owners have cooperated amicably throughout this process and if a deal is not forthcoming it will not be due to lack of effort from both parties”

It is a long overdue update but in true Newcastle style, one that leaves fans with more questions than answers; all when the new season kicks off in just four weeks. The vague nature of the ‘update’ isn’t particularly helpful and the last part regarding that ‘if a deal isn’t forthcoming’ isn’t great reading either.

It hasn’t filled fans with confidence that we will have the new owners we badly need, especially with the transfer window closing in a matter of weeks and no manager in place – time is against Newcastle. The statement doesn’t make things any clearer – how Mike Ashley can still own the club when all aspects of a takeover have been completed remains a mystery.

Newcastle fans quite rightly have takeover fatigue and have for the past 18 months, so this is another frustrating twist in a draining summer. We all hope this goes through but the harsh reality is that, as it stands, we have lost a world class manager, our player of the season, our top scorer and are the only top flight side yet to sign a player. We need action, not vague statements, quickly. It is time we heard from the club on all this – but with Ashley in charge, let’s not hold our breath.

  2. I’m concerned about this.

First of all, in their statement announced to the world Newspapers, they referred to the “Fit and Proper” test as a “so-called” test. This sounded at the time like an arrogant dig at the FA. As in “who are you to decide that I am fit and proper, with your so-called test.
At the time Redding countered with the fact that Kidwai is Indian and that’s probably just the way he talks. I won’t go into the fact that he’s actually British, as can be seen on their Companies House registration of Monochrome Holdings.

Next – the latest statement has been “released” through a local Radio Presenter via social media. This time they claim that both they and Ashley have done everything they can to get this deal done, and if it falls through it’s not their fault. Does that sound like the comments of a confident man? No. It doesn’t. It sounds like a “thanks very much and goodbye!”
They went from full of everything global release, to backdoor local presenter social media.
It’s possible this was done so that they cannot be considered to have broken the NDA with Ashley, but I’m going the other way on this.

I’d guess that the the FA have rejected either the Sheikh of BZG as fit and proper and the deal is about to fall through.
