According to Sky Sports’ Keith Downie, Steve Bruce is now one of the names ‘under consideration’ to become to new Newcastle United manager.
Just when you think this summer couldn’t get much more shambolic, you hear this.
Downie – Sky’s north-east reporter – reveals how Bruce has become the new favourite for the job overnight, being valued at 9/4 by several major bookies, and now confirms he’s one of the names Mike Ashley is considering:
The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards did report over the past fortnight that Bruce was well respected and admired by Ashley, claiming he was the sort of character who could work well with the NUFC owner, but this would be an absolutely unforgivable appointment.
Newcastle-born or not, he is not only an ex-Sunderland manager but also an extremely ordinary manager and someone who would arrive as a woefully poor Rafa Benitez replacement.
On a day where we were all hoping and praying for some form of breakthrough on the takeover front, we are told Steve Bruce could become our new boss under and already abysmal Mike Ashley era.
What a complete and utter shambles.
Well if this is true I feel fully vindicated in not renewing my tickets . Ashley and his associates have no clue regarding football

Bruce is the ideal manager for us.
He fits in nicely with Souness, Pardew, Allardyce and McClaren.
Having gone down more times than a Quayside hooker he manages to keep his teams around 10th to 13th, assuming he can keep them up.
I can only assume that if Ashley brings him in he’s a stop-gap manager while we’re waiting to sell.

Mike Ashley couldn’t be that stupid or could he? Bet the penny has finally dropped for the 26 thousand who renewed their season tickets that they a big part of the problem and why Mike Ashley would even think Steve Bruce would be suitable. He genuinely believes NUFC fans will put up with anything and any unrest always blows over by September.
