According to Sky Sports, Watford are now interested in a deal to sign Nice winger and alleged NUFC target Allan Saint-Maximin.
It was being reported in France (via Nice-based paper Nice-Matin) just over a week ago that we were ‘close to agreeing personal terms’ with the winger, however any deal of this magnitude seems slim to impossible without either A) a takeover or B) a decent manager in place.
Here’s what Sky have had to say, claiming Watford are now in for the £25m-rated winger:
‘Watford are interested in signing Nice winger Allan Saint-Maximin, according to Sky sources.
‘Sky Sports News understands Saint-Maximin would cost Watford around a club-record £25m.‘
Losing Rafa was one thing, but the fact we have no manager in place and are the only Premier League club yet to make a single signing shows how devastating this summer has been on all fronts.
The Mirror recently claimed that we’d pursue deals for Joelinton and Saint-Maximin, stating these were two players club scouts liked but Rafa was unsure of, however I have no idea how we’d expect to make any progress on such deals when so much uncertainty is hanging over the club.
That said, there’ll come a point where we MUST sign players. After all, this squad is almost certain to go down if there’s not serious improvements, with us swapping Rafa, Rondon, Perez and Diame for Redfearn, Gayle, Aarons and Colback as things stand.
