Jamaal Lascelles sends message to NUFC fans ahead of the team’s trip to China

Jamaal Lascelles has sent a message to NUFC fans on Twitter ahead of the squad’s trip to China, saying the team are ‘working hard’, ‘feeling refreshed’ and is ‘focused’ on a successful spell in Asia.

The skipper has also taken part in an interview with the club’s official website ahead of our involvement in the Premier League Asia Trophy next week, with us due to play Wolves next Wednesday – followed by either Man City or West Ham a week tomorrow.

Here’s what he’s had to say on Twitter and in his interview with NUFC.co.uk:

“We are travelling to China and it’s going to be a great experience playing in a completely different country with different surroundings and environment. We are very thankful to be taking part.

“A big part of it will be gaining experience, seeing different situations at the same time. Winning games will put a marker down and set an example for what we are going to do during the new season.

“I do think every game we play, especially in pre-season, will push us toward a good start of the season. We will be looking to win the games.

It comes as no surprise to hear the skipper communicating before the club in what has been an absolutely shambolic summer off the pitch.

That said, I imagine Lascelles has been forced to bite his tongue, with this being the first time he’s spoke out following the exits of Rafa, Rondon, Perez and Diame – not to mention the fact there’s been no takeover, no signings and no new manager appointed as of yet.

Hopefully the players can surprise us at the Asia Trophy, although I can’t say I’m expecting too much from the following squad:

Goalkeepers: Dubravka, Darlow, Woodman, Harker.

Centre-backs: Lascelles, Schar, Fernandez, Clark, Watts (U-23), Bailey (U-23).

Full-backs: Dummett, Manquillo, Lazaar, Sterry,

Central midfielders: Shelvey, S.Longstaff, Ki, Hayden, Colback, M. Longstaff (U-23).

Wingers: Ritchie, Murphy, Aarons, Allan (U-23).

Strikers: Gayle, Joselu, Muto.

  1. No news here then. Of course he is going to feed us the club’s propaganda as he is out for himself and does not want to be fined and have to apply for a hardship payment from the SS!!???
