The team have now arrived in China ahead of the Asia Trophy and there’s one notable absentee – Joselu.
The Spaniard was named in the initial squad announced by the club a few days ago, but he has now been replaced by U-23 top scorer Elias Sorensen.
As a result, it looks like the former Stoke City striker is finally set to complete a £1.7m move to Alaves – a deal that has described as ‘imminent’ over the past few weeks.
Here’s some pictures of the team arriving in Nanjing today, with the top left squad photo showing that there’s no Joselu, with Elias Sorensen called up to the side in his place.
Time will tell, but his sudden withdrawal from the squad strongly suggests his move back to Spain looks all set to go through.
Given his limitations at Premier League level, this may come as good news, however it’s worth mentioning our only other senior strikers at the club would be Gayle and Muto should he leave.
Let’s hope Sorensen can take his chance and impress out in China, with new signings also desperately needed – whether Joselu’s off or not.
Good Adios…..
