Long-term NUFC target all set to complete £45m move to West Ham – Sky Sports

Long-term target Sebastien Haller is finally about to seal a move to the Premier League – but it won’t be to Newcastle United.

Instead, the prolific Bundesliga striker is on his way to West Ham, with Sky Sports confirming this morning that he’s a passed medical away from completing a £45m move.

Whether we really are lining up a big money move for Hoffenheim star Joelinton or not, this is another summer deal to remind us how far we’ve fallen behind the likes of West Ham, Wolves and Leicester – clubs Rafa Benitez planned to get us competing with.

Haller was a player Rafa Benitez tried to sign from the Dutch League in the January before our promotion back to the Premier League, with our interest in him continuing following his move to Frankfurt.

Nothing came of it, however he’s gone on to become one of the top strikers in Germany over the past few years, with him bagging an outstanding 20 goals and 12 assists last season.

As a result, his price tag has rocketed, putting him well and truly out of our reach, however West Ham have now stumped up £45m to bring the big Frenchman to London.

Hopefully a deal for Joelinton can be agreed, however it’s never been clearer that we are being well and truly left behind by the sort of sides we would’ve been looking to compete with should Rafa Benitez.

  1. West ham sign a player and Rafa Benitez is mentioned 3 times in the article this is becoming a bit obsessive and while we are disappointed he’s left we are beginning to look like a battered wife who goes back to her husband the way this obsession continues. How about another article on Pardew instead.
