The one & only positive from Newcastle 0-4 Wolves..

After a humiliating 4-0 defeat against Wolves in our opening game of the Premier League Asia Trophy, there’s one positive to take – Elias Sorensen’s eye catching cameo.

The 19-year-old was prolific at U-23 level last season, however he’s been given a surprise chance with the senior side in China, with him being a last minute replacement for Joselu after the Spaniard completed a move to Alaves.

As a result, Sorensen got a 30-minute run out during today’s clash with Wolves – and he was one of few Newcastle United players who looked the part, with him putting himself about and posing a threat in attack.

Here’s what Newcastle fans had to say about the young Danish striker following his impressive second half showing against Wolves today:

Sorensen’s been bright. Has to be said.

Sorensen was just about the only positive there.

Sorensen looks bulkier compared to last season, holding the ball up well. Aarons looks sharp and Matty Longstaff tidy. Senior players overall pretty dreadful though

Sorensen already showing he’s twice the player Muto is…

Sorensen the only positive in the last 6 weeks of the club and he’s played 20 minutes.”

“Elias Sorensen looks some player.”

In 20 seconds I’ve realised why we need to start Getting Sorensen minutes this year

Sorensen looks like a great talent!

“Sorensen doing more there in 30 seconds than Muto over 60 minutes. Give him the number 9 shirt now and be done with it”

‘Sorensen looking sharp and strong. Definitely worth a shout for the bench for upcoming season. Exciting prospect’.

Great to see, although this can’t be seen as any excuse not to bother signing a few senior strikers this summer!

The only other ‘positive’ from today is that it should be a HUGE reality check for Mike Ashley and a sign he MUST spend big between now and August 8th if he wants to give us any hope of staying up – not that I’m holding my breath on that front.
