Despite claiming that there had been a ‘disagreement’ over the length of contract he’d sign, German outlet Sport1 claim that Joelinton’s move to Newcastle United could be announced ‘today’.
They report that any issues over his contract (with him wanting a three-year deal and us preferring four) are seen as minor, with them expecting the move to be formally announced today as he’s ‘already said goodbye to his teammates’ at Hoffenheim.
Their new ‘exclusive’ also states that the fee could be as high as £48m – a claim I’m inclined to doubt given this is £12m more than the £36m fee initially reported and THREE times the initial fee paid for Miguel Almiron.
Nevertheless, Sport1 expect the deal to be officially announced on Thursday, with their claims seeming relevant given they were the first outlet to report that we had an ‘agreement’ in place to sign the Brazilian 5 months ago.
The 22-year-old bagged 11 goals and 9 assists in 35 appearances for Hoffenheim last season, with him believed to be one of the brightest young attacking talents in the Bundesliga.
Let’s hope they’re right!
