Pictures of ‘new-look’ St James’ Park emerge after Mike Ashley ‘makeover’

A new picture has emerged on social media showing the new paintwork and signs added to the Milburn/Gallowgate corner of St James’ Park.

This comes just a few days on from photos showing the new players entrance in the concourse and, while both may look slick and modern, it only paints over the cracks that have only got bigger at St James’ Park this summer.

Here’s the pictures, captured by passing Newcastle fans over the last few days:

Does it look good? Yes. But it’s a cheap way to modernise a stadium that’s been in need of some much needed TLC for some time now.

Maybe I should give the club a pat on the back here, but it’s all fun and games until we find out these pots of black paint will take a couple of quid out of Steve Bruce’s summer budget!

All jokes aside, the following Rafa Benitez comments now seem all the more relevant:

“I was talking to the architect about changing a few things. And, after three years, they painted the walls.”

Let’s hope they get cracking with the rest of the stadium – although that may compromise the amount available to spend on new players if I know Mike Ashley!

  1. Looks good…. my god, I get he is a shocker of an owner but the black looks good. Only us geordies can find fault where there is none(the painting I refer too!)

  2. I think we as fans are in danger of becoming a bit of a joke to everyone. Ashley’s a complete #$@! but we are starting to go a bit far the other way. However much we wish rafa was here we have Bruce so we may as well get behind him and so many slating the possible Joelinten signing when we have moaned for years about money spent! I know we want more and it’s not ideal but even slating a really smart improvement to the ground is gonna make us look stupid!

  3. Also I heard someone laughing at us that for years all he heard Newcastle fans say was we need a geordie manager they would be the only person to understand a club like ours . No Londoners etc. Now we have one so as much as we wish he was rafa let’s get behind him and get on with it!!

  4. Good to some some sensible comments on here, the mess we are in is not Steve Bruce’s fault, he at least deserves a chance and respect for having a pair of balls big enough to take up the challenge.

  5. You simpletons are keeping the FCB at St James park. And doing a disservice to the rest of the fans. I’d rather see the club told and him bankrupt, then rise from the ashes a true club again.

  6. That’s all very romantic Steve and if you think people are simpletons that’s fair enough but your the simple one if you think Ashley is going anywhere. We had this when pardew arrived when maclaren arrived when kineer arrived when Denis wise got involved! We are fans cos we love the club and as much as we hate Ashley we still come back to support our club. Ashley wont sell he gets too much out the club in way of advertising. So either support the lads and Bruce and make the best of it or you wont be back for another decade or more!

  7. And Steve if you think you or me not going to games is gonna make a blind bit of difference to Ashley staying or going your living on another planet lol

  8. Dark days ahead, darker than the past 12 years. Bob”I support the team not the regime”, enjoy the thrill of top class football, remember do not boo and stay until the end, as it will be a thrilling ride to the championship!!

  9. It’s been the same all week everywhere you read people whinging on. The same people who don’t go to matches telling everyone to pack in.
They can’t accept that you can protest and watch matches it has to be the their way or the highway, not once have I read that they can accept anyone else’s view. No we are all sheep simpletons or Ashley lackies,
My view boycott if you want to don’t if you want to.
All this Ashley has took the club from us is bull only if you let him, how much more would it p him off if we didn’t run away and made the best atmosphere ever and supported the team to spite him further

  10. And here we have it – divide and conquer.
Personally chosen to give up my season ticket and glad I did. Good luck to you still going, but expect relegation.
It’s going to keep happening until Ashley leaves, unfortunately.
