Shocking NUFC stats emerge – Proof we’ll be relegated unless several key signings arrive?

WhoScored.com have shared a pretty disturbing Newcastle United stat ahead of the new 2019/20 season.

As highlighted below, based on those still at the club, our top scorers in the Premier League last season include two defenders and Matt Ritchie – with the latter scoring just twice:

This, of course, comes following both Ayoze Perez and Salomon Rondon’s exits, with the pair scoring 55% of our Premier League goals last season (Perez 12, Rondon 11):

Perez and Rondon also bagged a combined 9 assists, meaning they were actually involved in much more than just 55% of our Premier League goals!

Take away their goals and assists from last season and we would’ve been relegated – and that’s a side that had Rafa Benitez in charge of it, not Steve Bruce.

Joelinton’s arrival looks imminent, but it must also be noted that he scored 7 league goals in Germany, with him being a 22-year-old who’s coming into a completely new league. He’s a real talent, but it’s absolutely essential another attacker or two are signed to help lift the inevitable weight that will be placed on both his and Almiron’s shoulders.

Steve Bruce stated earlier today that we’re looking at making a ‘couple of signings’. It may have been a figure of speech, but for me we need a ‘couple’ of strikers alone, with another winger, a new no.10 option, a midfielder and a few full-backs also desperately needed.

Let this be a warning to Mike Ashley in what remains of the transfer window.
