Sky Sports reveal TWO players NUFC are keen to sign after Joelinton arrives

According to Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solkehol, Newcastle are interested in Mainz striker Jean-Philippe Mateta & Genk goal-machine Mbwana Samatta.

He states that the club are keen to sign another striker once Joelinton’s arrival is confirmed, and says he’s been told that Mateta and Samatta are two players on our transfer ‘shortlist’.

Mateta has been linked with a potential move to St James’ Park on a few occasions over the past few months. He’s a 6ft 3′ French U-21 international and has bagged 14 league goals for Mainz in the Bundesliga last season.

As for Samatta, the 26-year-old has been in stunning form in Belgium over the past 12 months, bagging 32 goals and 6 assists for Genk across the 2018/19 season.

On the subject of Joelinton, the Sky Sports reporter suggested that the Brazilian’s move from Hoffenheim could be announced at the start of next week, with it being claimed in Germany that his ‘imminent’ move been delayed slightly as the club want to combine his unveiling with the official release of our new 2019/20 away kit.

Either way, it’s absolutely essential that we sign another forward as well as Joelinton.

He may be a huge talent and a club record arrival, but we have lost 55% of our goals from last season in Rondon and Perez, meaning the likes of Joelinton and Almiron will need some extra help in attack.

  1. A few new players off the Perez money and maybe another 6000 season ticket sales ,we will never get rid off this horrible piece of turd

  2. This transfer like the hyped fake takeover looks like its gone pear shaped as Joelinton has been going to sign every day last week and still has not. Must be Penfold doing the negotiations so expect it to COLLAPSE

  3. They already said he won’t sign a 4 year deal, and will only commit to a 3 year deal. We all know how we negotiate, it’s 4 years or nothing, so expect it to collapse. But don’t worry, we’ve found an alternative that’s 30 mil cheaper ? part of me thinks this alternative was always our main target, and we’re using the joelinton deal to make sure we don’t get held to ransom, which probably won’t work anyway, so we will end up with Austin or Carroll in the end.

  4. TALKING the talk but not walking the walk. Thats Ashley’s Newcastle.
EVERY season this happens. After this player and that player – he’s leaking this to the press and he’ll sign NONE OF THEM
He does it every year – every season, you fools. If he meant to sign them, he’d keep quiet and not alert other teams. You tell the media WHEN THEY’RE SIGNED.
Thats why this is usual Ashley crap. He won’t go for them. They cost MONEY

  5. The Scotsman is reporting that Bruce wants to sign James Tavernier from Rangers.

Ironically they make no mention of the fact that he used to play for us.
