Sky Sports report ‘breaking news’ on Joelinton deal – & reveal new fee NUFC look set to pay

Sky Sports have revealed that Joelinton has now completed his medical ahead of his ‘record breaking’ move from Hoffenheim – suggesting the deal is now all but done.

North-east reporter Keith Downie has also claimed that the fee looks set to be ‘in the region’ of £40m – suggesting the amount paid may be in between the ‘£36m’ and ‘£48m’ figures initially mentioned by German press.

Downie initially stated that he had arrived for his medical, however his latest update on Twitter has confirmed that this is now ‘done’ (see tweet below).

The 22-year-old was pictured at St James’ Park for the first time this lunch time, and Sky Sports’ latest ‘breaking news’ suggests it is now a matter of time until the deal is officially announced:

It’s been stated on several occasions that the fee will be paid in instalments, something which should work in our favour with regards to how much money is left over for further signings over the next 16 days.

So, it seems this one will now be announced later today, with his arrival needing to be the first of many between now and transfer deadline day on August 8th.

  1. Got his 3 yr deal and relegation clause then? Steve will if course nurture and develop him. Keep boycotting as it’s all about Ashley and his sports direct FC. If he did change the clubs name I am sure the “fans” will still show up.
