?️ Joelinton sends brilliant message to NUFC fans during first big interview – Read it here

New ‘club record’ signing Joelinton has given his first big interview as a Newcastle United player during a chat with NUFC TV.

The big man comes across very well, and promises fans he will never be lacking in ‘dedication’ and ‘desire’ on the pitch, with him feeling ‘relaxed’, ‘prepared’ and highly motivated to ‘honour’ the famous number 9 shirt.

The £40m-man began with speaking out about his ‘club record’ arrival at St James’ Park, discussing his knowledge of Newcastle United and his first impressions of Steve Bruce – a man he believes could become a ‘father figure’:

“I know it’s a big responsibility but I’m prepared.

“Rest assured, there will be no shortage of desire and dedication to score lots of goals and honour the number nine shirt.”

“I know it’s a big club, with massive history. I’ve followed the Premier League since I was little and know about the huge tradition of the club and how passionate the fans are.

“I hope to have a great career here.”

The Brazilian then responded to questions about the pressure the number 9 shirt can bring, also giving fans an insight into his style of play:

“I’m relaxed. I know my quality and I’m prepared. It gives me a lot of motivation to honour this shirt.”

“I like enjoying myself on the pitch. I’ll never be lacking in desire and dedication. I bring a lot of emotion.

“Physically I’m in great shape. I’ve got good physical strength. I train hard.”

Joelinton also addressed the Roberto Firmino comparisons – another ex-Hoffenheim Brazilian who has been likened to the 22-year-old:

“They’ve been making that comparison since I arrived at Hoffenheim.

“I like to leave it to one side; it’s never held me back, nor does it affect my mentality.

I’m following my own story. Roberto is making his.”

The new club record signing then had his say on Newcastle’s fans, claiming he had several members of the Toon Army messaging him after the rumours of his potential arrival reached the press:

When it came out in the press, the fans haven’t stopped writing to me.

“This affection made me really happy and I hope to give back to them on the pitch. I hope to bring a lot of joy to the fans.”
