Newcastle have £14m bid rejected – Club want £18m – Report

According to RMC Sport, Newcastle have had a £14m bid REJECTED for Allan Saint-Maximin, with Nice looking for £18m for the winger instead.

This comes after the both the Chronicle and Shields Gazette have confirmed our interest in the 22-year-old earlier today – with the latter claiming he’s out ‘no.1’ target.

There has also been strong suggestions from the Gazette today that we are ‘on the verge’ of signing the Ligue 1 winger, however reports in France are claiming we’ve had an initial offer turned down:

We may have just smashed our club record transfer fee with the signing of Joelinton, but it would be VERY much like Newcastle United to be going in with bids a few million pound short of the asking price.

OK, maybe we think Saint-Maximin is a risk and someone we shouldn’t be paying big money for, but £18m for a highly-rated 22-year-old talent who’s statistically the best dribbler in Europe seems about right in this day and age!

That aside, the main issue we now have is time. It’s not on our side with just over two weeks left of the transfer window, so we can not afford to be going in with cut-price offers for our alleged ‘top targets’.
