Another promising report has emerged on Allan Saint-Maximin’s proposed move to Newcastle United, with North-East reporter Ian Murtagh claiming he’s now told his Nice teammates that he wants a move to St James’ Park.
Murtagh’s new Friday-morning piece for the Daily Star claims that we are now ‘closing in’ in on the 22-year-old – who missed Nice’s latest pre-season friendly on Wednesday night -, stating we’re ‘confident’ of sealing the deal ahead of an improved bid.
These claims tie in with a report from the Northern Echo’s chief writer Paul Fraser, with him claiming just yesterday that a deal for the 22-year-old was ‘close’.
Meanwhile, the Sun are also claiming that we will make a £20m move for the winger – suggesting we are now prepared to pay Nice’s asking price after reports in France (and Sky Sports) claimed we’d had a £14m bid knocked back earlier this week:
Elsewhere, the Chronicle have stated that talks are ‘ongoing’ between the two clubs, and Sky Sports have confirmed our interest along with Steve Bruce, so this really does seem like a deal that is on the cards.
With LESS than two weeks left to do business and at least three or four more signings needed, let’s hope we can get this one wrapped up ASAP.
We’re going to have to get SOMEONE wrapped up because the situation is starting to become ridiculous. A few days from the end of the window and we’re still “interested”, “closing in” and “monitoring” players.
Get your bl***y fingers out and get some money spent. We all know it’s there.

I think a lot of people miss the point of Ashley fc transfer strategy the key is you declare your interest early so the gullible saps meaning nufc fans get all ohh yeah he’s good purchase some more shirts or season tickets then keep saying your interested until the final hours of window after offering half of player fee then bang it’s shut and we’ll we tried ! Classic trashley moves !
