Ligue 1 duo keen to join NUFC as Steve Bruce hints that ‘one or two’ deals are close

Steve Bruce has hinted that “one or two” new arrivals may be close, with him stating that he’s ‘quietly confident’ on the transfer front.

Meanwhile, it’s been reported that Ligue 1 duo Stanley N’Soki (PSG) and Allan Saint-Maximin are keen to complete moves to St James’ Park – however the club are yet to agree deals for either.

Firstly, here’s what Bruce has had to say on the transfer front after our 2-1 pre-season defeat at Preston:

“Well, I haven’t spoken to anybody for the last six hours, so maybe I’ll know a little bit more tonight.

“But we’re just going to have to be a bit patient – I know it’s difficult – but we’re quietly confident that we’re edging towards one or two.”

“Hopefully in the next 24/48 hours something might be closer.”

Could these ‘one or two’ refer to Saint-Maximin and N’Soki?

The Chronicle have confirmed that we are back in for N’Soki, stating the PSG talent is keen to join the club this summer after being impressed by our fans and the club’s project.

As for Saint-Maximin, it was revealed last night that we have upped our bid to £16m – however French reports suggest Nice may be holding out for £18-£20m for the 22-year-old.

It was reported on Friday that he’d told teammates he wanted to complete a move to Newcastle, but time will tell if we make Nice an acceptable offer.

The winger played 20 minutes of their pre-season friendly at Cardiff earlier today, with his side returning to England on Tuesday for a game with Burnley.
