NUFC reporter drops big Saint-Maximin claim – & hints that left-back could sign

Mark Douglas claims Nice winger Allan Saint-Maximin “should” sign before next Saturday’s pre-season clash with St Etienne – and believes PSG left-back Stanley N’Soki could well follow him to St James’ Park.

It had been reported that we were yet to meet Nice’s asking price of around £20m, with £14m and £16m bids being reported so far, however it sounds like we are edging closer to this one if Douglas’ latest comments are anything to go by.

Here’s a snippet from his latest piece for the Chronicle following yesterday’s 2-1 defeat at Preston:

‘Allan Saint-Maximin should be on board by the time the team take on St Etienne – and Stanley N’Soki could follow him’

To add to this, the Shields Gazette also reported last night that we had a deal ‘in place’ to sign the Nice star, suggesting the two clubs are now just ‘haggling’ over the fine details of the transfer.

As for N’Soki, Sky Sports claim that we’re in talks to sign the 20-year-old talent, while the Chronicle have also revealed that he’s keen to join the club this summer.

That said, it’s reported that our opening bid (£7m) for the left-back falls short of PSG’s asking price – which is said to be around £10-£12.

With that in mind, the situation seems pretty clear – up our offers for both and we’ll have the new winger an left-back we’ve been waiting for all summer!

  1. Is this true or part of the usual transfer window runaround ending in, almost’s and nearly’s and not quite’s? 🙄

  2. Hope they are both true. 2 quality players coming in there if so.
I feel like the Saint is pretty much done and dusted – Stanley may take a bit longer though.

  3. I just don’t get it ? Ashley is spending like a drunken sailor, yet he wouldn’t. give
Rafa., one thin dime, has he come up with a new business plan for the club or is it the same old plan, buy cheap and sell for a massive profit, same as his tat empire.
