Sky Sports – Newcastle submit £5.5m bid as club look to land new right-back

Sky Sports have confirmed that we are interested in a deal to sign Swedish international right-back Emil Krafth.

Their latest piece on the 24-year-old also says that ‘one source’ has told them that a £5.5m offer has been submitted to Amiens, although they claim that it’s ‘currently unclear’ what bids have been made at this stage.

This comes just hours after the Sun’s Alan Nixon reported that we’d had a £4.5m REJECTED for the 24-year-old, meaning a £5.5m move may be an improved offer from us.

Should this be true, the Ligue 1 side may consider selling for a quick £3m profit, with them paying just £2.5m to sign Krafth earlier this summer following a successful loan spell from Serie A side Bologna.

It seems we have a few irons in the fire, with us in talks over deals for a right-back (Krafth), a left-back (N’Soki) and a winger (Saint-Maximin), but to say these moves are beginning to really drag is an understatement.

With the transfer window set to slam shut at 5pm a week tomorrow, there’s not room left for haggling or low-ball offers.
