Dutch international set for medical after agreeing terms with NUFC – Lee Ryder

According to some big new claims from Lee Ryder, Newcastle are today pushing to complete a deal for Dutch international left-back Jetro Willems.

Ryder claims that he and Saint-Maximin have now ‘agreed terms’ with the club, stating that Willems looks set to sign providing he passes a medical.

Willems currently plays for Bundesliga side Frankfurt and has been linked with a move to St James’ Park for several years now.

A potential move for the 25-year-old was actually talked up earlier this summer, and it now looks like we’re trying to finalise a deal for the Dutchman today:

Here’s a snippet from Lee Ryder’s latest piece for the Chronicle, suggesting both Willems and Saint-Maximin look set to sign this weekend:

‘The Dutchman has been a long-term target of the Magpies for five years but is expected to swap Eintracht Frankfurt providing he gets through his fitness tests and medical formalities.

‘Both players have agreed terms with the Magpies with Steve Bruce slowly shaping his new look squad at St James’ Park.’

So, several years on from being linked with a move to St James’ Park during his PSV days, it looks like Willems is finally set to arrive on Tyneside.
