Sky Sports reveal 2 deals NUFC want to complete in next 6 days – but one move now looks unlikely

According to Sky Sports’ Keith Downie, Steve Bruce plans to bring in a ‘right wing-back’ and ‘another forward‘ before the clock strikes 5pm on deadline day next Thursday.

That said, the North-East reporter does suggest that a new midfielder may not arrive, with Bruce feeling he’s well stocked at both centre-back and midfield.

This comes following the arrivals of French attacker Allan Saint-Maximin and Dutch left wing-back Jetro Willems yesterday, however it seems there’s still a few deals the club are keen to complete over the final 6 days of the window:

The Chronicle’s Lee Ryder has also said similar following yesterday’s double-arrival, but also suggests a midfielder could be shipped out (Colback/Saivet or Matty Longstaff on loan?):

With regards to right-backs, we’ve been linked heavily with Amiens’ Emil Krafth, while a loan move for Man Utd’ Alex Tuanzebe has also been mentioned.

A £4.5m move to Lille’s Edgar Ie was talked up yesterday, but it remains to be seen if that one has any truth in it.

As for strikers, Sky Sports claim Bruce is keen to sign Southampton outcast Charlie Auston, while a free-agent move for Andy Carroll has also been tipped to happen if and when he proves his fitness.

  1. It’s a better looking team than last season. Fingers crossed it all works out.

  2. Who will be the second loan signing? We have to have another one. I’ll send the doctor round to Ashleys house meself if we don’t.

transfer record broken 3 times in 6 months, proper exciting your front 3 now packed with skill and pace with almiron, maxim and joelinten and your digging at Ashley that we have a top quality left back in on loan that we have option to make permentant in the summer. We need to be a bit careful as Newcastle fans cos many are starting to sound like clueless bitter people

  4. Don’t see it as a slight on who we have on loan just that Ashley’s policy is normally to have 2 on loan in a transfer window rather than pay the going rate to secure the services of the player. As with the Rondon situation if you don’t then secure him you have to replace him & usually at greater expense. Anyway Ashley regardless of what he does over this window cannot gloss over the neglect & unprofessional way he has ran this club and we are not the club I supported since . I may sound clueless, but three times in 6 months? Almiron £21m, then Joelinton £40m… have we signed someone for more?

  6. Bobby. The fact is, if Ashley had not been so parsimonious during Rafa’s reign, we would be in a much better position now. The fact that he is now spending money indicates that he is feeling the fear of relegation on one hand and also pulling the wool over people’s eyes, like yourself, into thinking he is ok. The harsh fact is he didn’t like Rafa having control… and that is also the reason he let him go. Not mr nice guy at all.

  7. With these good looking new signings and league start around the corner, I understand that some fans are getting a little less hateful to Ashley, a little less disappointed we lost Rafa and Rondon, a little more forgetful how the club’s been neglected for so long.

    But don’t you forget:

No matter the results or signings, nufc deserves an owner who has respect for the team, the fans, his or her staff, and most of all: The game.

    Ashley out!
