Steve Bruce has told Sky Sports that the club still have “one or two things” up their sleeve as we enter the final 48 hours of the transfer window – suggesting we are far from closed for business.
This comes from the boss’ latest chat with Sky Sports this afternoon, seeing him play down claims that he must sell before we can buy – a fair question given Bruce must trim down his squad to 25 in the coming days.
Here’s what the club’s head coach had to say when asked if by Sky Sports if more incomings were dependent on outgoings between now and 5pm on Thursday:
“No. We are still hopeful that we have one or two things up our sleeve.
“We will know a little bit more in the next 24 hours.
” I would envisage we still have one or two bits still to do.”
With this in mind, it suggests that we are after more than just a right-back – an area that has been described as Bruce’s ‘top priority’ to improve going into the final few days of the window.
Are the ‘one or TWO’ deals referring to the arrival of a potential striker now Gayle seems keen to complete a loan move away for regular minutes? Or could we be looking to move out both Colback and Saivet and sign another midfielder?
Who knows, but it’s good to hear we’re anything but closed for business as deadline day fast approaches.
