Lee Ryder shares update on Carroll, N’Soki, Ibe, Maia with 24 hours of transfer window remaining

Lee Ryder has responded to questions about a host of players linked with late moves to Newcastle during a the Chronicle’s latest Q&A session.

As we know, Emil Krafth is set to become our 4th summer signing, but Sky Sports have claimed that Steve Bruce is looking to bring in ONE more before 5pm Thursday, so there could yet be some late activity on Tyneside.

With that in mind, here’s what Lee Ryder had to say about the latest set of players linked with Newcastle – starting with an update on the Jordan Ibe and Thiago Maia rumours:

“I think they are players that have been offered to Newcastle by agents but their wages and timing in the window may not tally.”

Jordan Ibe was tipped with a potential loan move by the Sun and the Northern Echo, while French reports suggested we were back in for Lille midfielder Maia, but it sounds like it’s agent driven and unlikely based on what’s been said here.

Then to Andy Carroll. This is a deal that could be completed outside of the transfer window given he’s currently without a club, however Lee Ryder seems to think it is still a possibility – IF there’s space left in our 25-man squad:

It’s one that can’t be discounted, it could even happen after deadline day as he’s out of contract.

Carroll is closing in on fitness but a lot of clubs have been frightened off by his injury record.

He’s keen to sign for Newcastle but it will be all eyes to see if there’s a space in the squad for him.

The Chronicle then had this to say on Stanley N’Soki, suggesting their sources in France are telling them a deal is ‘unlikely’ after talks have stalled – despite him being keen to sign:

Just a quick update on French claims over Stanley Nsoki and NUFC – sources in France suggest it’s unlikely a deal will happen.

It’s claimed that talks haven’t taken place for several days – but Nsoki still would be open to joining United if his wage demands are met.
