Alan Shearer has welcomed Andy Carroll back to Newcastle United following his deadline day return to the club.
The 6ft 4′ striker has signed an ‘initial’ one-year deal with the club, becoming our fifth signing of the summer following moves for Joelinton, Allan Saint-Maximin, Jetro Willems and Emil Krafth; who also signed today.
Here’s what the Newcastle United legend has had to say about Carroll after the ‘big man’ signed just moments before the 5pm deadline:
Carroll has confirmed that he’s now fit after recovering from ankle surgery this summer, but it’s believed he will take a few weeks to regain full match fitness, meaning we may not see him in action until next month.
It’s another risky signing based on his recent injury record, but a pay as you play deal and one-year contract makes sense from a financial perspective – especially when he’s arrived on a free.
