After completing his return to Newcastle United, Andy Carroll has posted a brilliant video on social media captioned: “I’m coming home!”.
The video shows highlights of his first stint at Newcastle United, with the famous Geordie track “I’m coming home Newcastle” played over the top:
Here’s the statement released by the club after his sensational deadline day return to St James’ Park was confirmed just moments ago:
‘Newcastle United have completed the signing of Andy Carroll.
‘The 30-year-old returns to St. James’ Park eight-and-a-half years after he left his boyhood club, and has signed an initial one-year deal.
‘Carroll – who scored 33 goals during his first spell with the club – becomes head coach Steve Bruce’s fifth addition of the summer, following the arrivals of Joelinton, Allan Saint-Maximin, Jetro Willems and Emil Krafth.’
As the club state, it’s an ‘initial’ one-year deal which will see him earn a low basic wage along with appearance and goal-based ‘pay as you play’ incentives.
