Boost for NUFC as £63m Spurs star is ruled out of Sunday – but key man set to return

Tottenham have confirmed that club-record signing Tanguy Ndombele will miss Sunday’s game against Newcastle.

The £63m man has picked up a thigh injury in training and has now been ruled out of the game – a boost for Newcastle and blow for Spurs following his impressive displays over the first two weeks of the new season.

Dele Alli has returned to training and looks likely to miss out, but key attacker Son Heung-min is now available for selection for the first time this season after completing a three-match ban.

With this in mind, the following Tottenham side looks likely to start ahead of Sunday’s game live on Sky Sports:

[4-2-3-1]: Lloris; Walker-Peters, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose; Sissoko, Winks; Lucas, Eriksen, Son; Kane.

As for us, I’d love to see Saint-Maximin start now he’s back in the squad, but feel Bruce will restrict him to a late cameo once again and stick with a 3-5-2.

Here’s the side us going with come 4.30pm on Sunday:

[3-5-2]: Dubravka; Schar, Lascelles, Dummett; Manquillo, Hayden, Shelvey, Longstaff, Ritchie; Almiron, Joelinton.
