Worrying injury news as key players (and 10 in total) look set to miss Leicester clash

Sunday’s win at Spurs was massive and a monumental effort from all involved, but it looks to have taken its toll.

Steve Bruce has been speaking to the press this morning ahead of tomorrow night’s Carabao cup clash with Leicester at St James’ Park and he’s confirmed that SIX players involved in Sunday’s game look set to miss out.

Saint-Maximin has been ruled out after he limped off early on with a hamstring complaint, but Bruce has also confirmed that Joelinton (groin), Lascelles (calf), Almiron (ankle), Schar and Atsu are all unlikely to play.

He states there’s “lots of bumps and bruises” from Sunday’s game, with fatigue also being an issue for several players – which is no surprise given the shift we put in.

Elsewhere, the likes of Carroll, Gayle, Lejeune and Yedlin are also out. It sounds like they’re edging closer to a return, but tomorrow’s clash with Leicester at St James’ Park will clearly come too soon.

With that in mind, it looks like we’ll have to beat a very capable Leicester side without TEN first-team players tomorrow night – which is a worrying thought.

A big chance for fringe players and youngsters to impress, but a huge task against one of the best sides outside of the top 6.
