Achraf Lazaar completes deadline day move – The 2nd NUFC player to leave today

Achraf Lazaar has completed a move away from Newcastle United, joining Serie B side Cosenza on a season-long loan in the last few moments.

While the transfer window for Premier League and Championship sides shut in early August, today marks ‘deadline day’ across Europe – and it’s granted a move back to Italy for the Newcastle left-back.

This is the second outgoing to go through today, with Rolando Aarons also completing a surprise loan move to League One side Wycombe Wanderers this lunchtime.

Lazaar joined Newcastle from Serie A side Palermo over three years ago, so his return to Italy via Serie B shows how his career has gone downhill following his move to St James’ Park.

Considering he impressed fans at Sheffield Wednesday, leaving many Owls supporters wanting him back, it really does make you wonder why he’s ended up settling for a move to Italy’s second tier on Europe’s deadline day.
