Sky Sports – Hatem Ben Arfa ‘in talks’ with TWO clubs after being released once again

According to Gianluca Di Marzio – Sky Sports’ man in Italy – Hatem Ben Arfa is now in talks with Fiorentina, with Fenerbahce also credited with strong interest in the ex-NUFC winger.

Despite bagging 9 goals and 6 assists last season and guiding them to Coupe de France glory (the French cup), Rennes released the 32-year-old this summer, enabling him to join a new club on a free this summer.

He’s yet to find a move – despite receiving reported interest from Sevilla, Real Betis, Espanyol and Besiktas – however it looks like Serie A side Fiorentina and Fenerbahce are now in talks.

The European transfer window slammed shut in Italy last night, but the fact Ben Arfa is available on a free means there is no ‘deadline’ for his next move.

A move to Fiorentina would see him join French compatriot Frank Ribery – who recently arrived from Bayern Munich – although it remains to be seen if a move for the ex-NUFC star will still go ahead now they’ve also signed Rachid Ghezzal from Leicester on loan.

Considering he’s just had a few good seasons in France and was statistically the fifth best dribbler in Europe last season, it’s quite surprising that he’s yet to find a club several months after being released.

That said, concerns have never been over his ability, with his fitness and application always seeming to be the two key issues that have stopped him from reaching the very top.
