Danny Mills has finally said something NUFC related that fans will agree with, claiming Michael Owen’s latest comments about the club are ‘bang out of order’.
Owen has confessed this week that he “hated it” at Newcastle and “couldn’t wait to retire” – something that’s not sat well with Mills, who believes the ex-NUFC striker’s lack of effort or care for the club is unacceptable.
Here’s what Mills has had to say when asked about Owen’s latest comments live on talkSPORT:
Mills is right (for once!). He may be putting words into Owen’s mouth at times here, but it seems abundantly clear, both now and back then, that he never wanted to be at the club, couldn’t care if we went down, had no interest in pleasing the fans and was desperate to find an escape route.
Shearer and Owen have been at it this week, exchanging insults on social media, but there is no comparison between the two.
They may have cost similar fees and will both go down as two of the best English strikers we’ve ever seen, but Shearer battled past career threatening injuries for his boyhood club – while Owen was at the other end of the scale in terms of his selfishness, durability and passion for the game.
