According to the Daily Express, Newcastle are continuing to keep tabs on Hull star Jarrod Bowen ahead of the January transfer window.
The piece states that both Newcastle and Southampton scouts have been watching him over the opening few weeks of the Championship season – and we’re likely to have been impressed given he’s scored 4 goals in 6 games so far.
Our interest in Bowen has been well documented, with the Chronicle revealing last week that we held concrete interest in the 22-year-old over the summer, however Mark Douglas did insist that we were unwilling to pay Hull’s £20m asking price.
With this in mind, it’s perhaps pretty damning that the Daily Express claim Hull will continue to demand £20m for the winger in January.
This is probably the going rate for one of the Championship’s top players, not to mention an English winger who scored 22 goals in a struggling Hull side last season, but it feels like this may only be a deal we pursue if they buckle and end up agreeing to a knock-down fee.
Time will tell, however it certainly seems like Bowen is someone we’re watching closely ahead of the winter window.
