Miguel Almiron has finally scored his first goal for Paraguay, scoring the equaliser in their 4-2 win over Jordan tonight.
Despite being one of his country’s top players, the 25-year-old had previously failed to score in his last 20 appearances for the national side, but he’s finally broken his duck.
Here’s the goal itself, showing the Newcastle attacker ghost in at the back post to head home – only to collide with the goalkeeper and go down injured in the process!
Thankfully he seemed to be ok after the nasty collision, with him staying on the field (despite being in some distress) as Paraguay went on to win the game 4-2.
Jordan are 99th in the FIFA rankings, but hopefully this can give him the confidence boost he needs ahead of his return to Newcastle this week, with him still waiting for his first goal in a black and white shirt after 14 appearances from the club.
Well done, Miggy!
UPDATE: Paraguay reporter Roberto Rojas has since confirmed that he is NOT injured – despite the fact he looked hurt moments after scoring
